Winooski Recreation and Parks has partnered with Peter Burns, a professional storyteller and presenter with 35+ years of experience to offer a comprehensive public speaking course. As a scholar for the Vermont Humanities Council, Peter has taught Public Speaking and Storytelling in schools and for many organizations such as the AmeriCorps VISTA program. His work has been featured on National Public Radio!Many people fear getting up in front of a group and making a presentation, yet being able to do so is essential. Whether you are giving a professional presentation, talking to a school board or hosting an event, effective public speaking skills are important. In this class, you will learn simple and effective methods for talking to a group. We will also have a chance to practice and perfect our techniques. This program connects new American seniors to services and community resources while fostering companionship and celebrating culture. Join us for Tai Chi, socializing, arts/crafts, activities, and lunch.• FREE (lunch by donation)• Ages 55 + • Fridays, 10:30 am - 1:00 pm• Winooski Senior CenterJoin us for a very unique programming event in partnership with Age Well.Our New American elders gather weekly for exercise, a community meal and programming.At 11am we play Tai Chi with certified instructor Viviene Levy.At NOON we enjoy a fresh cooked Nepali meal (RSVP by the Wednesday before - suggested $5 donation),At 12:30pm we engage in activities designed to help keep our New American seniors connected to one another and their community.
